Description
Aviation Military Air Shows Equipment 1940s Huge Historical Photo Negative Collection This lot came from the collection of New York City-based photographer and businessman, Harvey Hament. There are approximately 471 Photo Negatives in 71 Envelopes. Most of the envelopes have writing or markings on them. Some indicate they were taken at the "NYAS," which I believe was the New York Aviation Show. Many of those have a date of "2-47" also written on them. There are also envelopes with "New England Air Show" written on them and a date of August 15-18, 1946. There are negatives of dignitaries, displays, planes, equipment, model planes, newspaper publicity images, and more. Many of the negatives are darker in color and hard to see without a bright light. Even with a bright light, some may be difficult to distinguish. I don't know much about these, and I'm sure a collector could do a better job figuring out what is actually here. The negatives are in several different sizes, but they are mainly around 4" x 5", give or take. Smaller negatives are about 2 3/8" x 2 1/2". The sizes fluctuate, and some edges are uneven. There are negatives with more than one image on it. Please note that some photos, in undated envelopes, may be from the 1950s or 1960s. This collection is in vintage condition with discoloration, staining, tearing to the edges of the paper, folds, and creasing to the paper envelopes. The negatives themselves have bowing, curling, creasing, turned corners, cracks, discoloration and other wear from age, handling and storage. Some have holes where staples were removed. There are some negatives that have an imprint of a smaller negative on it, apparently from storage. I saw one negative that had squiggly lines written on it in ink. Also, there may be negatives that are completely blank without an image on it. Some envelopes do not have writing on them. Collection weighs just over 3 pounds when boxed. Please see photos for more information on condition and ask any questions you may have.
